IMAGE: The image depicts the severe consequences of climate change. In the foreground, parched and cracking earth stretches out, showcasing a landscape afflicted by extreme heatwaves. To the side, wildfires blaze without any apparent spark, casting a menacing glow. Above, swarms of locusts and beetles crowd the air, highlighting the shifts in insect populations. Wilting crops hint at agricultural failure, while a group of people is seen migrating away, illustrating the economic collapse of rural areas. The sky is thick with dust and smoke, creating an unsettling orange haze that envelops a stunning yet alarming sunset.

SYNOPSIS: FIVE, the Fifth Season is the season we made, where blossoms fall in winter and storms speak out of turn; it is grief in the soil and hope in the sky, a broken rhythm that becomes our own. It is neither spring nor autumn, but a threshold between endings and beginnings — born of our fear, carried by our love, asking us to hold each other steady as the world shifts beneath our feet.

SONG CYCLE: STRUCTURE This is a song cycle which is divided into seven different sections according to the five seasons, with an introduction (REVERIE) and finale (CROSSROADS). Reverie contains nostalgic songs about how the seasons were. In the five seasons there are songs about each of the seasons which mainly focus on: 1. A person affected 2. The characteristics of the season 3. The future implications. The first three songs in each season are more general, and the second three are about the village of Keltersfeld, a fictional village north of Berlin. There is also history about the village, and how its fate is a microcosm of the whole story…..and perhaps our own story. The Keltersfeld songs are in German, with the exception of one in Polish and one in English. There is a total of 38 songs in a variety of styles with a running time of over 150 minutes.
