From the recording FIVE - THE FIFTH SEASON
“Metal and Flood” depicts an apocalyptic collision of human industry and climate chaos, where the man-made world is devoured by the very forces it sought to control. Images of rails drowned in a “blackened tide,” rust bleeding, and tunnels screaming evoke a drowned metropolis—part cyberpunk nightmare, part climate-driven deluge. The “false frost” and “fever’s bloom” hint at seasons out of joint, while “diesel blood” and “data stream” tie environmental collapse to the technological systems that both fuelled and recorded it. The chorus’ refrain of “metal and flood” becomes a dirge for civilization: a kingdom of steel overwhelmed by water, leaving only rust and ghostly echoes where progress once reigned.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Iron rails drown in blackened tide,
False frost burns, the seasons lied.
Concrete veins turned serpent streams,
Choking breath in electric dreams.
Verse 2
Steel bones creak in the ocean’s throat,
Signals fade, no ferries float.
Rust runs red where the waters bite,
Neon bleeds in the endless night.
Chorus
Metal and flood — the kingdom falls,
Steel and water in shattered halls.
Frozen rains, then the fever’s bloom,
Every street a hollow tomb.
Verse 3
False winter breaks with a molten roar,
Currents pound through the subway’s core.
Tunnels howl with a sailor’s scream,
Drowning ghosts in the data stream.
Bridge
Girders bend, the skyline sinks,
Diesel blood in the water drinks.
No more dawn, no summer’s trust,
Only metal, flood, and rust.
Final Chorus
Metal and flood — the kingdom falls,
Steel and water in shattered halls.
Frozen rains, then the fever’s bloom,
Every street a hollow tomb.
