The Grand Hotel - a metaphor for life, enjoyment, meeting people and living an interesting and constantly changing lifestyle. In this song I imagine a situation where two people - friends, partners, or even business associates - have found each other in some kind of way and have had a lot of time together and things in common, and then suddenly one of them has gone - and the other is not ready. They have “checked out too early”. Whether this means passing away, or passing on to another kind of life, or just simply leaving because they have had enough is left open….but it is a common enough situation when suddenly something big like this changes and the person left is not ready.
I have tried to do this song in a 1980's style as it reminds me of some things from that time.
