From the recording Ionian EP3
Summer 2025. Not the same beach, but the one next door. Last year we were there and I was amazed to hear the boom boom from the far away beach club which went all day and into the evening. Parked at the side of the road were at least 10 big coaches and the beach bars were full of young partygoers spending a day in the sun on jet skis, with cocktails, banana boats and all the activities of a modern beach resort. This went on into the evening until the buses left - nothing special compared to many of the big beach resorts in other places, but still a surprise in a place which had always been so quiet and still, with the loudest noises the crashing of the waves and the cicadas in the trees. Hence the idea for "Paradise Lost in Techno"
Lyrics
Many years passed
Things have changed
They built a road
Nothing stays the same
Call it progress
If you like
Get there by car, bus
Or motorbike
Business boom
In a hotel room
Flashing lights
All through the night
Big buses arrive
At half past nine
Full of partygoers
For the sunshine
Boom of the bass
The loudest sound
Burn in the sun
Party till you drop
F.U.B.A.R.
Aaahhhh
It’s gone
Aaahhhhh
Things have changed
Paradise lost in techno
Profit number one
Booming echo
September to May
Nature fights back
Hotels empty
Nights are black
Fishermen at sea
Like in old times
Village peaceful
Lost in time
Houses are bigger
Cars everywhere
Summer makes winter
So much easier to bear
Some things change
Some things stay the same
Like the sea, the cliffs, the air
But more change is coming
Feel it in the air
Won’t stay like this
Does anybody care?

Aaahhhh
It’s gone
Aaahhhhh
Things have changed
Paradise lost in techno
Profit number one
Booming echo
