From the recording ALTER EGOS LP4

He had been driving for hours. The scenery was monotonous and the road was straight with very little traffic. Gradually he felt himself drifting into a daydream state until he felt himself detached from himself. It was as though he was looking down at himself from above. And then he dragged himself back to earth…..
Apparently such an OBE - out of body experience - is quite common, although people do not really talk about it, unless it is related to dreams. The feeling of dissociation is an escape from reality - does it happen to you? I wanted to write a song about a serious theme, but have tried to make it into a song in the style of the punk era from the late 1970s.

Steve Lewis - vocals, music, lyrics, all instruments
Michael Krebs - mixing, extra vocal effects
Milan Holz - mastering

Lyrics

Have you ever felt like me? Detached at times from reality
Looking down from way up high. At yourself - like it’s some other guy?
Then the moment passes. You come back to earth. Nobody sees. It’s no rebirth.
And you carry on. Just the same.

OBE
OBE
Out of my body. Must be out of my mind

You’re driving fast in your car. Then you don’t know where you are
You see a stranger behind the wheel. Is it me? What is the real deal.
Gotta keep it all under control. Come back now, or lose it all
You won’t get another chance

It’s like time moves backwards and forwards
It’s like you are divided in two
It happens when you least expect it
It’s gotta be the same for you

OBE
OBE
Out of my body. Must be out of my mind

Drift to a parallel universe. Can’t stop. No way to reverse
Don’t know what to do. It happens to me. Does it happen to you?
When you fade away. Don’t understand what you’re trying to say
Then you’re back. In the moment
