From the recording Under Construction LP2

I was interested in this subject after hearing all the things that happen these days on bachelor and bachelorette "events" - and family members Ross and Megan, who have themselves have had plenty of experience themselves and with others agreed to join in. I did some research into some of the many strange and sometimes extreme things that people get up to, although the worst ones are not in this song. This is supposed to be a light-hearted song about a tradition which can be a lot of fun, but also a big problem for some of the places where they take place.

Lyrics

Steve:
You got married last year. Would like your advice.
Before the big day. Do something naughty and nice
Bachelor parties. With all of our mates.
One last fling, …….before its too late.
“It’s a right of passage” they all say. Plan a trip both home and away.
It’s got to be different, full of extremes.
Special beyond the wildest dreams.

Ross:
Dress up in the craziest of gear
Humiliation. Then drink another beer
Dutch courage to confront your greatest fear
Make sure that the bathroom is always near
Do things you can’t believe, party all night
Disrespect the locals, maybe get into a fight
Don’t know what went down the night before
No photos – did you really score?

Megan:
Try something different, not just a pub crawl
Make it unusual, it will be a ball
We have suggestions, but if you forget
You can find it all on the Internet
Cos we won’t tell you what we did
What went down stays in Madrid
Would love to do it one more time
Together as a couple would be sublime
Ross:
Be a farmer for a day. Bungee jump into the bay
Drive blind across the fields. Play golf in South Shields,
Human table football. Crossdress in a sports bar,
Silent disco headphones on a dancing walking tour,
Football darts, mountain bike, morph into your best pal,
Beer bike in Amsterdam, jump in the canal
Scary theme escape room, naked German spa
Parachuting, scuba diving, drive a cool sports car

Megan:
Champagne sleepover in matching pjs
Hollywood makeover, a pampered wellness day
Dress as drag queens at a male strip show,
Hunger Games archery. Katniss with a longbow
Burlesque photoshoot, fancy dress, gin tasting
Pole dance, karaoke, horse riding, abseiling
Stand up paddle, cocktails, 80’s dance class
Dress like winged fairies and flirt in cocktail bars

Steve:
And what do you say when you get home
With lipstick on your collar. Can’t find your phone
Strange things hidden in your suitcase
There’s no way out. You’re in disgrace.
Or it didn’t live up to all of the hype
Maybe you’re just not the type
Wanna do things in the old-fashioned way
Priority. Your wedding day

Prague, Amsterdam and Budapest
Your relationship put to the test
The golden rule through thick and thin
What happens in Berlin stays in Berlin
Tallin, Rome and Barcelona
New York, Hawaii, Northern Macedonia
Be as creative as you can be
And it will stay a mystery
