From the recording See the Lights LP1

The journey goes in one direction, with time a one way street. A song about loss, celebrating what was positive, accepting things and moving forwards. Dedicated to my father.

Lyrics

You used to ride the highways
To get to the end.
You took the winding byways.
Smelled the roses round every bend.
There’s no way to turn back.
Time’s a one way street.
Keep going in the same direction.
Try to stay on two feet.

I’m losing you.
You’re fading away.
Body not responding.
Your mind frozen in yesterday
Now it’s time to go
Cross that bridge if you can.
Take the new road on the other side.
The journey starts again.

Cross the border in the dead of night.
Move in the shadows.
Stay out of sight.
Lights in the distance.
Dogs howl, voices call.
Can’t ever go back.
Make no sound at all.
No sound.

Like mist burned off in sunshine.
At the start of a summer’s day.
Move in a new direction and drift away.
It’s part of the circle.
Accept, adjust, renew.
Requiem sunset, your legacy
Will always follow you.

It’s time now. You’re moving on.
Highway stretches forward.
You’re no longer alone.
Keep on cruising towards the sun.
Wanna believe there’s something out there
And the road goes on and on.
